1.    Common Activity:-

• Putting together an initial public offering (IPO). An IPO is initiated when a privately funded firm decides to list on a stock exchange in order to have access to capital markets funding.
• Obtaining a credit rating A strong credit rating frequently leads to better borrowing terms. To do this, the company finance director will commission a creditworthiness assessment from an independent rating agency.
• Making a bond sale. A bond is a type of long-term loan that is funded by the bond purchaser, known as the first "bondholder." Such bonds can be purchased and sold on the open market, and the holder will receive interest and be repaid according to the conditions of the bond arrangement.
• Obtaining a loan from a bank. The conditions of such loans are frequently dependent on the credit rating of the firm or are asset-backed. If they are asset-backed, the bank can seize the company's assets in the event of a failure.
• Developing and executing a dividend program for shareholders.

2.     Investment principal:-

Firms have limited resources that must be distributed among conflicting demands. The primary goal of corporate finance theory is to offer a framework for organisations to make sound decisions. As a result, we define investment decisions as not just those that generate revenue and profits (such as launching a new product line or entering a new market), but also those that conserve money (such as building a new and more efficient distribution system).Furthermore, we argue that typical working capital decisions like as how much and what inventory to keep on hand, as well as whether and how much credit to extend to clients, are essentially investment decisions as well. Broad strategic decisions on which markets to join and acquisitions of other firms, on the other hand, might be considered investment decisions. To determine if a project is acceptable, corporate finance aims to assess the return on a proposed investment choice and compare it to a minimum acceptable hurdle rate.

For riskier projects, the hurdle rate must be set higher and must reflect the financing mix utilised, i.e., the owner's cash (equity) or borrowed money (debt). We begin the subject of risk and return by defining risk and proposing a system for calculating risk. In risk and return models, we transform this risk metric into a hurdle rate, or a minimum acceptable rate of return, for both whole enterprises and individual investments.

After determining the hurdle rate, we may focus on calculating the returns on an investment. In extensions of this analysis, we consider some of the potential side costs that may not be captured by any of these measures, such as costs that may be created for existing investments by making a new investment, as well as side benefits, such as options to enter new markets and expand product lines that may be embedded in new investments, and synergies, particularly when the new investment is the acquisition of another firm.
